Paul Gilroy- Diasporic identity
1) Gilroy suggests that racial identities are historically constructed- formed by colonization, slavery, nationalist philosophies and consumer capitalism. 2) Gilroy explains that " Race is not the eternal cause of racism but is its complex, unstable product. Neither race nor racism is the exclusive property of the minorities who are there primary victims. 3) Ethnic absolutism is a line of thinking which sees humans are part of different ethnic compartments with race as the base of human differentiation. 4) Diaspora means the scattering of people and a diaspora is generally considered to exist within a small group in scattered numbers across continents.
