1) From the beginning the audience are encouraged to see the characters in a stereotypical light, the mise-en-scene supports the judgements made from what they're environment and clothes. This myth presented them as "gangstas/hoodlums".... However they could also be seen as a curious bunch of people since they simply play around with a harmonica that someone dropped. This slowly reels the audience to thinking that these characters shouldn't be taken at face value and how culture has shaped our way of thinking when we see certain signs. 2)By the end of the short film they truly emphasise how signs can be polysemic, the boys may be wandering around in urban areas dressed in these stereotypical ways but they do not act the way that we would expect. These characters subvert these expectations by they're silent actions-which we later find out the reasons because of this is that they're both deaf. They have the opportunity for petty revenge against the old drunke...
