October assessment LR

 1) WWW: Some very concise, perceptive analysis                                                                                                 EBI: More reference to the text themselves and more comprehensive answers

2) For Q1 I could have wrote more about the action codes with what his stereotypical appearance might represent for the future of the narrative. For Q2 i should have elaborated more around the font styles and why they use different ones for each poster.  Neale's theory would have been a good way to explain why genre is important on Q3. Q4 I didnt talk to about how stereotypical the magazine was when it came to the black community.

3) Question 1: The gun and its setting being an urban estate suggests that this media text is going to be an urban drama.                                                                                                                                                       Question 2: The fact that a black male has been deliberately used in figure 2 establishes a sense of the brands values and makes the audience associate Nike with an urban street lifestyle.                                       Question 3: Producers repeat key conventions of genres to aid in there media products marketability.           Question 4: The mise-en-scene of the poster reinforces a hegemonic reading of the text with it glamourizing this lifestyle as well.

4) The media terminology i missed was Barthes enigma and action codes, tagline and conventions.

5) Question 3- Why is genre important for both media producers and consumers.

Media producers benefit greatly from genre as it makes there tasks a lot easier. They're able to cater to an already existing fanbase who recognise the key conventions that are used. This increases the chances of them being successful as they can follow the path already set out from already successful media texts in that genre. Additionally this also makes it a lot more marketable to the audience invested in that genre.

However genre is also definitely important for consumers at allows them to already make an assumption on the media text from prior experiences which also grants them the ability to be selective about the media they consume and only choose there favourites. Simply by looking at the genre the consumer can already assume several aspects of that media text through its stereotypes.
