Oh Comely-Audience

 1) Oh Comely was started by three friends at Oxford University. They wanted to create the antidote to the women's magazines on the market. Iceberg press owns Oh Comely and they are an independent publishing company.

2) They're print circulation is around 10,000 copies and they have 30,000 subscribers.

3) The editor, Alice Snape, characterises the average Oh Comely reader as 18-35 year old creative, intelligent women who may or may not be settled into they're careers and are looking for inspiration from other women.

4) The magazines design reflects its words, Its clean and minimal layout allows its words to shine and be the main focus for they're readers. They don't use any photoshopping of they're photos to keep everything natural.

5) At Oh Comelys core they're a team of four women who all work part time on the magazine. However they also work with freelancers who are both women and men. They aim to make a magazine for women and made by women. Also they'll accept help from men but wont show them in interviews for they're magazine.

1) Oh Comely introduce themselves as a breath of fresh air for a creative audience who are desperate to find something that speaks to them directly. It provides an alternative to the pile-it-high-sell-it-cheap aesthetic of mainstream magazines.

2) Compared to Mens health Oh Comely doesnt have as much as a significant print circulation or readership. This may be due to how Oh Comely conciously decides to target a niche audience while Mens health tries to be a bit more global/mass market.

3) Oh Comely is distributed to its audience through independents, WHSmith international outlets. People can also subscribe to the magazine and get it through the post.

4) I think the target audience demographics for Oh Comely are an 18-30 year old whose interested in feminism.

5) I think the psychographic group linked to Oh comely is possibly the reformer and explorers. They're audience seems to keen on social awareness and curious about the world around them. They're looking for social change as a means to improve society and maybe make themselves more aware about issues or female role models.

6) I would expect most of Oh Comely's audience to be upper/middle class females. AB(Maybe C1).

7) I think this audience might have a high level of education and have probably gone to university or college.

8) Oh Comely offers several pleasures from its magazine. Personal identity and relationships is given throughout the magazine through the several role models given. By the role models explaining they're interests/struggles they form a relationship with the consumer and they when they also start talking about issues that they themselves may have experienced themselves the audience might be able to relate.

9) Oh Comely is a magazine about people and there quirks and creativity rather than money. This is made evident by they're design of they're magazine with its minimalistic outlook and lack of adverts inside. This deliberately tells the audience what they're main focus is.

10) I believe Oh Comely has been able to form such a loyal audience due to them interacting with a specific audience in a way that no other magazine has done. There are other magazines that state they're empowering women but Oh Comely seems to be able to interact with this audience far better which shows there's definitely a demand for more magazines that focus more on individuality and creativity rather then trying to gain money from there magazines.
