OSP Assessment: Learner response

+ 1) WWW: Successful response to Q1, understanding the theory.                                                                         EBI: Both answers need more detail and development specific example from the CSP in particular.

2) Three aspects from Q1 that I could have added are.

  1. Preferred-Linking Google Homes advert as a vision of an ideal family life. Mise-en-scene supports this with coloured pencils and a child's picture in the background.
  2. Oppositional-Google home shouldnt be seen as a natural part of someones home. Some audiences will reject this if they're concerned about they're data and privacy.
  3. Negotiated- The speaker has its usefulness despite the concerns in how it uses our data.
3) Three potential points for Q2 are:
  1. Clay Shirky End Of Audience- Audiences have a wide and diverse range of ideologies that are available to them currently. Teen Vogue is a reflection of this with they're diverse range of communities (LGBTQ, Feminism, etc)
  2. Teen Vogue is owned by Conde Nast which is a major conglomerate yet they run stories against capitalism presenting themselves as hypocritical.
  3. Paul Gilroys Double Consciousness- The Voice offers a diverse range of values and ideologies as representations of a black british audience that actually reflect they're experiences and life in Britain.
4) Essay plan for Question two.
  • In the introduction I'd discuss my initial perspective of Teen Vogue having a diverse range of ideologies while The voice being more stagnant.
  • The first actual paragraph would use Clay Shirkys end of audience as a way to support this notion and that Teen Vogue discusses various topics on there website like feminism as a means to relate to their audiences.
  • Second paragraph would also note that Teen Vogue might just be using these ideologies as a coverup to gain more attraction and people to they're company. They're main focus will always be about fashion in the end.
  • Then I'd switch to talking about The Voice and how they subvert previous stereotypes that represented the black british community. They're main ideology revolves around BLM alongside other traditional values.

5) Three things i need to revise for the future are the theorists for OSP (Clay shirky and a few others), my timing and the detail i put into my answers.
