Fact-sheet#107 Fandom 1) A fan is a person who has a devotion to a media text that goes beyond simply consuming the text that they consumed. Matt Hill believes it becomes a part of someones identity much like gender, class and age. 2) The different types of fans that are identified by the extract are: Hardcore/true Fan : They identify themselves as the "insiders" within any fandom. They spend a lot of time and often money in becoming hardcore fans. Newbie : These are new fans of a media text and don't have the same devotion as a hardcore fan. They are seen as the "out-group" within any fandom. Anti-fan : Those who identify with a media text but in a negative light instead. Mens health Magazine- Language and representation

Language  1) Mens Health's colour scheme are very conventional to colours that represent masculinity in general these colours consist of black, white and blue. The mast head of this magazine is the only text that is placed in the serif font while the rest of the magazine is placed in sans serif. Its language used is very exclamatory with them using a lot of action verbs like "Blast, Demolish, Slay" . Vin Diesel is the central image with him representing the "peak of masculinity" in a way. The use of Vin Diesel as they're central image shows that they use celebrity endorsement/star power as a way to entice more readers. 2) Front Cover Cover lines: almost excessive amounts of cover lines surrounding the magazine (although this is normal for most magazines) Written in Sans serif mostly but mast head is in serif Image of Vin Diesel is a representation of hyper masculinity   Editors letter and contents page Direct address and use of informal language- makes it se...

Magazine practical task and planning

1) The three potential magazines i could use for inspiration are: Easy food, Good food, Tesco. 2) Easy food magazines Planning Magazine plan EasyFood cookie Magazine 2) This magazine doesn't look as professional when compared to the other magazines but its close. I tried to match the EasyFood seasonal aesthetic with most of the EasyFood magazines using the current season to promote there products. I believe I've created a magazine with similar conventions of a normal one but not completely and would need further practice to imrpove. 3)There are several things i would change or adapt to fit the publisher for an example the documents size in general would be better if it was less wide to match normal magazine conventions. Furthermore the colours of the texts might be clashing with each the image making it harder to read. Which may be a further issue as a result of the background distracting the consumer away from the product itself.
